We like to commemorate life events, milestones, special occasions with celebrations or parties. Celebrating special times makes life better. We’ve all been to parties, but we may have not all hosted a party. At some point, you are likely to throw a party. Whether it’s a birthday party, anniversary party, bachelorette party, or a party “just because,” we have some tips for first time party hosts that is sure to minimize the stress and maximize the success of your event.
Properly preparing for your party will ensure your party goes as planned and you and your guest enjoy yourselves. Start by preparing lists. Create lists for your guests, food and drinks.
Creating your guest list could be one of the hardest parts in planning your party. You don’t want to have too many or too few, and you certainly do not want to leave anyone out. Carefully craft your guest list and check and double check it. Sending out e-invitations is a great way to manage your guest list and also receive RSVP’s. Knowing the precise number of guests will help you plan your food and drinks.
Decide on the food. If your party is during the afternoon, consider appetizers and finger foods along with dips and veggies. If your party is in the evening, a sit down dinner or buffet may make sense. If cooking isn’t your thing, there is nothing wrong with catering your event. A caterer can even help with your menu.
After you make your food selection, choose your cocktails. If you want to keep it simple, you can stick to beer and wine. To step things up a bit, have multiple drink choices, including nonalcoholic selections. Hiring a bartender for a few hours will let you mix with guests instead of mixing drinks.
On the day of your party, give yourself a few extra hours. There is nothing worse than feeling rushed or overwhelmed. If you forget something or need to make a quick stop at the grocery store, you’ll have time to do so.
During your party, enjoy yourself. Don’t stress if unexpected things happen. If you enjoy yourself, your guests are sure to enjoy themselves too.
