Jerry Thomas created the first recipe of Tom Collins Gin in the year 1876, which is pretty simple to make. You’ll need a large wine glass of Gin, a couple of ices cubes, some lemon juice, and half a dozen dashes of gum syrup and soda water.
- 1 oz (2 parts) Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 1/2 oz (3 parts) Old Tom Gin
- 2 oz (4 parts) Carbonated water
- 1/2 oz (1 part) Sugar syrup
- Mix the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup in a tall glass with ice
- Top up with soda water
- Garnish and serve.
